How is Jesus viewed in New Age spirituality?

Biblical Background

(From a New Age perspective), Jesus is often seen as a spiritual master, enlightened guide, or teacher of universal consciousness rather than as the incarnate Son of God. New Age interpretations detach Jesus from historical and doctrinal contexts.

Historical Context

New Age thought developed from Eastern philosophy, mysticism, and Western esotericism, reframing Jesus as a model of self-realization.

Theological Meaning

New Age beliefs emphasize personal spirituality, inner divinity, and cosmic unity. Jesus is sometimes viewed as one among many enlightened beings rather than the unique Savior. His miracles and teachings are interpreted symbolically as expressions of higher consciousness. This view departs significantly from Christianity.
